Activation and license management

Activation ties your license key to a machine. It takes one paste and one click in the plugin.

Activating with a license key

From the plugin:

  1. Open any PhaseLock instance.
  2. Paste your license key into the activation window.
  3. Click ACTIVATE.

Spaces in a pasted key are removed automatically. Activation requires an internet connection.

Using PhaseLock offline

After activation, PhaseLock checks in with the license server when the computer is online, and works without a connection between check-ins:

  • A one-time license keeps working offline for up to a year after its last successful check-in. Any later connection renews that year.
  • A subscription keeps working offline through the period you have paid for, plus a week.
  • A trial works offline until the trial ends.

If the offline window has elapsed, connect the computer to the internet and reopen the plugin so PhaseLock can check in.

Moving a license to another machine

A license covers 2 machines. To move an activation, sign in at jelly.audio/account, reset the license’s activations, then activate PhaseLock on the machines you use now.

Activation messages

If PhaseLock does not accept the key, read the complete message before trying again:

  • That key wasn’t recognized: check for missing or incorrect characters, then paste the key again.
  • Maximum number of activations: deactivate an existing machine before activating another one.
  • Can’t reach the license server: check the internet connection and try again in a moment.

Note: Do not post your full license key in a public forum or bug report.

After reinstalling Windows or resetting your PC

PhaseLock recognizes each computer by a small file kept on that machine. Resetting your PC, reinstalling Windows, creating a new user account, or restoring from a disk image replaces that file, so PhaseLock sees a brand-new computer while your earlier activation is still counted. If you then see Maximum number of activations, open jelly.audio/account and choose Reset activations to free them all, then activate this computer again.
